New product writing workshop, a big change, and an invitation
The Self-Titled Era
Hey there. Scott Kubie here. 👋🏻 I run Content Career Accelerator, a membership community that you can’t join.
Not anymore, anyway. I’ve closed enrollment, and at the end of the year I'll be closing the whole thing. I'm moving in a new direction focused on, among other things, affordability. More on that in a moment.
It feels like a new direction, at least. Except it’s probably more like when that band whose early albums you like does an interview about how different the next album sounds, and how some of their fans might not like it, but then you go and listen to it you’re like “Wait, what? This sounds the same?” But because the people in the band are different people than they were when those early albums came out, it sounds different to them.
Or something.
Regardless, I'm ready for my next album, so to speak. Different tunes. Fresh energy. You might consider this my “self-titled” era, and you can get a feel for it, appropriately, at ScottKubie.com.
🆕 Product Writing Crash Course
I want to make useful writing, design, and UX tools and skills accessible to people who need them, regardless of their industry or whether or not they have a big PD budget from a big and probably evil tech company.
As such, the first track on this new album is Product Writing Crash Course. It starts as a workshop on July 22, and you should invite every designer, dev, PM, product marketer, and anyone else you interact with on the UX writing work. It will help them understand where you’re coming from and give you all a head start on your design collaborations.
It's similar to other workshops you might have taken from me in the past or at online UX conferences, except:
- It’s not one-and-done. I'm marketing it as a workshop at the moment because that's what you'll get access to initially—the live event + the recording and slides. But this very same product will be expanded into a full course. Pay now, get more cool free stuff forever.
- It's way affordable. It’s only $199 USD, and will be half off of that already low price through the early access period. That's very inexpensive for a professional product/UX skills workshop. There are also team licenses available that bring the price down to ~$70/person...you could get access for your whole team for the cost of one in-person conference for one designer.
Soon: New content strategy and ecosystem mapping courses.
The next two singles...is this album metaphor still working? I'm gonna keep running with it...the next two singles coming out are:
🗺️ Map Your Content Ecosystem
Registration opens July 7
A hands-on 4-week program where you'll learn by doing. It starts in September. There are tracks for solo learners who don't have an ecosystem of their own, and a track for folks who do have an ecosystem in mind and want to create a useful picture of it. Please reach out now if this sounds interesting (just hit reply) as I'd love your input to shape the final offering!
🆕 The Practice of Content Strategy self-paced course
Debuts July 29
The Practice of Content Strategy returns as a fully self-paced online course. I'm still working on pricing, but it will be similar to the product writing offering, AKA lots of really really good stuff for not a lotta dough. Send me a note if you want to join the beta and give some feedback in exchange for some free learning!
If you’re on the new list, you’ll definitely get a reminder when it’s available.
🚨 This mailing list is being retired.
Please join the new list to stay in the loop.
I'm not going to import this mailing list to my new platform. I only want to reach folks who really want to hear from me. If you don’t subscribe, this will be the last (okay, close to the last) time you hear from me.
I've been doing UX content work for over 16 years now, so there will still be plenty of that under the new banner, but I'm working on bringing all of my professional, artistic, and online selves together in one place, which means there will also be more tools, courses, and content about my all of my favorite topics, like writing, creativity, strategy, art, and design. I sure hope you’ll join me on my new adventure.
Thanks for being here.
I'll bug y'all on this list a handful more times between now and December, mostly about the aforementioned offerings and to invite folks who missed this particular message to join the party.
And then? That's a wrap on the UX Writing Events Content.Events Content Career Accelerator newsletter.
Whether you've been listening to these albums since the first UX Writing Events mailing in 2020, or just tuned in last week, I appreciate you being here. I was able get a lot of feelings out and develop a lot of ideas through the short and long rants I sent alongside the events listings and course announcements. And it was always a good day when somebody wrote back, even just to say “This!” or “Same!” I hope that, on balance, it was more music than noise, and that you found something valuable through sharing your attention with me.
The community (that you can't join) will keep running through the end of the year, so I'll have some further gratitude and goodbyes to share with the folks who need to hear it closer to then. But that’s it for now. Hope to see you around.
With gratitude,
Scott
